With the approach of Christmas in just a few days and then New Year’s just a few days later, we can’t help but think ‘wow, another year is already over’ and we start to reminisce.

For us 2018 was an eventful year.  We had the pleasure of welcoming over 29,000 guests, 32 wedding parties, and a variety of sport teams from the cold season sports of hockey and basketball to the warm sports of dragon boats, rowing, even swimming.

It was a great pleasure welcoming back those with familiar faces and making new friends with those who have never travelled to Welland before, like the cycling group who came all the way from Ohio for a week long holiday just to cycle in our beautiful region.

We can’t forget to tell you about the meeting room renovations and corridor renovations that were completed this year, giving us a fresh 2019 look. We are excited to get started on the guest suites (pictured here is an artist rendering of our new look)

Best Western has had a lot of changes this year too, adding some brand new names to their portfolio which include: Vib, Sadia, BW Collection, BW Residence, Aiden, Glo, SureStay, SureStay Plus, SureStay Collection, you’ll continue to find Best Western in small towns and big cities with all these new brands all over the globe.

Lastly, we provided accommodations to those who are traveling for vacations, to visit family, to being a home while a new home is being built, but also a place to take rest when travelling for the loss of a very special someone.  For the first time, the tables were turned and we sadly loss a full time employee of ours, Ken Otting on December 1^st.  Many of our guests loved sharing with him their passions for fishing, kayaking or renovations, just a few of Ken’s passions.  We’ll certainly miss his favorite word ‘awesome’, and he won’t soon be forgotten
