Our Beginning
- February 08, 2020
The year was 1990, investors were taking a chance in Welland when deciding to build and open a hotel. Investors were concerned that if it did not succeed as a hotel, they’d build an all suite hotel, each room providing a bedroom, living room and kitchenette. This was a fool proof way that if they did not succeed, they’d change from a hotel to a long term care / senior facility.
When we opened we looked at all revenue sources for growth, offering monthly stays to the Niagara College students, when at that time, Niagara College was not what it is today. That did not stick for too long, so we sought out tourism groups, mainly from Quebec who’d come for all-inclusive trips to see Welland Murals, have a dance party at Club Social, and see Niagara Falls.
It is with great pleasure that we never did have to look back. That first year occupancy was only at 32%, but it was a start. Since then, we’ve become well known, Best Western has grown, and we look forward to more growth ahead. Happy 30th Anniversary Best Western Plus Rose City Suites 1990-2020
