Short Hills Provincial Park

  • May 16, 2020

The next few weeks I wanted to highlight the great hiking trails that are here in Niagara. I am an avid hiker, so these descriptions are from personal experiences, so I hope you enjoy.

Short Hills Provincial Park is a Non-operating Provincial Park which means that while you can't go camping here, you can certainly hike, ride a horse, go fishing, or bike. Some of the local wildlife that can be spotted here are Deer, Coyote, and various birds. You can see an abundance of deer tracks on any given day. If you’re quiet enough you might even be lucky enough to see one!

What the park lacks as far as amenities, it makes up for in spades with lots of trails, lots of streams that run through the park, lots of waterfalls (Notably, Swayze Falls and Terrace Creek Falls) and a beautiful lush Carolinian forest.

Short Hills Provincial Park is a hiker’s dream and it can become very easy to get lost or disoriented, so if you’re new to the area take precautions. *Please check website for policies on Social Distancing measures amid Covid-19
