Formerly, the bike route used to take participants up the very steep Effingham road in Pelham.  With change in ownership of the race and venue, the race is now considered to best fast and flat course in the Multi sport Series. 

Taking place approximately the same time each year, Saturdays feature the longer course distances called the Long Course, which is a step up from Olympic but not yet 70.3 distance.  New and exciting for 2025 is the replacement of the Long Course to an official Olympic distance. Participants will swim 150mm from the Welland International Flatwater Centre, bike 40km on a fully closed course (very rare in races to have a fully closed course) down Townline Road through the tunnel and back up onto Canal Bank Road 4 times, then a run around the canal for 10km.

Sounds like too much for one day? Participate on Sunday. Sundays are reserved for the Sprint races with a 750m swim, 20km bike and 10km run, using the same course as the day before.  Then if you’re really new, try the Give-it-a-Try race distance, which is a 500m swim, 10km bike and 2.5km run.

There really is something for every ability. If you’re not a runner, you can participate with a swim bike, if not a swimmer, you can get involved with a bike run. Have your friends join in with a relay!

These events always need volunteers, encouragement on the run course, people to help fill cups with water, assist with food distribution post race, remove timing chips, hand out medals…lots of ways to be involved.
