Wine Regions

  • August 02, 2019

August 2, 2019
It’s a known fact that Niagara has a lot of wineries, and we’re right in the middle of it all.

To the North East we have Niagara on the Lake where the number of wineries continues to grow it seems every year. The newest addition to a winery is at Ravine Vineyard, expanding to host events all year long.   Every winery offers tastings for as little as $3, some offer onsite restaurants, a picnic in the vineyard at Cattails, or sign up for a wine maker’s dinner for something more extravagant. (Cattails has this great wine beverage to be poured over ice cream - so delicious, and Inniskillin has the best Ice Wine, in my opinion. The wineries of Niagara on the Lake have a feeling of grander, very elaborate. Start your journey on Hwy 55, where you’ll have find some lovely fruit stands of locally picked fruit and vegetables.

To the West, you’ll find wineries of Twenty Valley just as high quality, but a more rustic, farm house style boutiques. There are a few elaborate ones, but they are certainly more rare, especially down King Street off of Victoria Ave.  While on King Street take that this opportunity to stop at the Bench brewery along the way, especially if your travelling partner is not into wines. While in the area, check out the Upper Canada Cheese to go with your wine, located just North of King Street on Jordan Road.

While there are no wineries in Welland, we are a great location to explore from. We have a great map at reception and we’d love to share with you our favorites.

The following sites can help you plan your wine adventure any time of year, with many events in the cooler months.  https://www.twentyvalley.ca/site/wineries , http://wineriesofniagaraonthelake.com/

See you soon.
